theScore update brings redesign and new features ahead of 2014 FIFA World Cup
Everyone’s getting geared up for the 2014 FIFA World Cup set to kick-off in Brazil next month. That includes theScore, whose app has gotten a very nice upgrade over at the Google Play Store.
Alongside a newly-redesigned user interface (it looks a lot more at home than it did before), you’re getting a full section specifically made for the 2014 FIFA World Cup, including brackets for the initial knockout phases. You’ll be treated to your typical mill of scores, stats and schedules, as well as information about all your favorite teams and players heading into the big tournament.
And that’s not even the end of the list. Take a look:
- Added ability to sign up for mass notifications on scores pages (i.e.: subscribe to alerts for all MLB games on any given day)
- Added ability to filter by leagues within Top News
- Addition of player alerts for all soccer leagues
- Fixed “connection error” issue on scores and standings pages
- Crash fixes
Not a bad way to rope more folks in (especially for those like me who are getting quite tired of the dated ESPN Scorecenter app). Be sure to give it a shot in the Google Play Store ahead of the big opening ceremony next week!
Samsung hypes up Premier 2014 event in New York with new teaser video
For those unaware, Samsung is preparing a June 12th “Galaxy Premier” event at the Madison Square Garden in New York. Now, they aren’t saying exactly what they’re planning on unveiling, but ‘ol Sammy has uploaded a teaser video hyping the event on YouTube.
The video, which doesn’t give away much, features a count with the tagline “Tab into Color” and the side profile of what appears to be one of their new tablets. If we had to bet money, we’d say Samsung is gearing up to announce their much leaked Samsung Galaxy Tab S 8.4 and Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.5, the first to feature the best display technology on the market: Samsung’s Super AMOLED display.
They’ll be streaming the whole shindig live on their site at 7PM (EDT), and we’ll be on hand for a hands-on of whatever they should announce. According to a leak, we could expect these tablets to launch on June 27th at select retailers. Oh, and because we don’t want you getting your hopes up, don’t expect anything along the lines of a Samsung Galaxy Note 4 or any other smartphone what-so-ever to make an appearance at the event.
