You can check out a real, live Galaxy S5 at Best Buy now
The Galaxy S5’s official release is still a few weeks away — it won’t launch until April 11th — but Samsung and Best Buy are tempting customers early with preview devices arriving at select retail locations today. The phone will be in display in about 100 stores across the nation where eager potential buyers can get their finger grease all over its 5.1-inch, 1080p Super AMOLED display.
The preview of functional demo handsets in advance of a phone’s retail launch is a first for Best Buy, who already partners with the Korean smartphone maker to host Samsung-staffed kiosks in many locations. Samsung’s new line of smart watches are also on display early, showcasing the Gear 2, Gear 2 Neo, and Gear Fit.
Preorders of the Galaxy S5 kicked off earlier today through AT&T. T-Mobile will follow next week with other US carriers likely to fall in line before the handset’s worldwide April launch.
The exact stores that will have the demo units have not been announced, so buyers still may need to do a bit of sleuthing to track one down. For those on the fence about the decision to go with the GS5 as their next handset, a little hands-on time could make all the difference.
