Your favorite DC heroes are back to brawl in Injustice 2 [Best New Games for Android]

What are the latest games worth checking out in the Google Play Store?

There are thousands and thousands of games available in the Google Play Store, with more being added every month. With so much content hitting the app store, it can be damn near impossible to keep up on all the latest releases and determine which games are worth your time.

Here at Android Central, we want to help. We'll be using this space to let you know about the latest gaming releases for Android that we think deserve your attention. We'll be checking in and updating this page weekly as new games are released, so refresh often!

Update, May 12: Injustice 2 is here! Also, check out the new addicting game from Ketchapp, 22 Seconds, and then hit the links in OK Golf!

Injustice 2

Injustice 2 is the sequel to the award-winning game Injustice: Gods Among Us, which is one of the best fighting games for Android. If you've played and enjoyed the first game, you're sure to enjoy the sequel which features more fantasy fight matchups between your favorite heroes and villains from the DC Universe.

Everything you need to know about Injustice 2 for Android

Unlock new heroes and build your ultimate team as you battle in 3 vs. 3 fights with the ability to swap out fighters as needed. The usual suspects are here — Batman, Superman, Joker, Harley Quinn — as well as a whole slew of new heroes and villains which you'll discover and unlock as you play.

Controls are optimized for Android and feel even better than they did in the first game. It's easier than ever to jump, duck and shoot projectiles, with epic Super Moves available to finish off your opponents. Graphically this game really shines, powered by the Unreal Engine. You start out with a Campaign mode only, with Arena, Story, Operations, and Challenge modes unlocked later on.

Like the first game, Injustice 2 is free-to-play with a stamina bar to manage and coins and crystals to collect and spend. There are in-app purchases if you're impatient and want to unlock new characters quickly, but there's plenty of fun to be had without spending a dime.

22 Seconds

22 Seconds is a new game developed by Ketchapp, which is reknown for making really simple and fun casual games. As the name implies, 22 Seconds is a game you can play in less than a minute, with the goal being how far you can fling a disk through the course in only 22 seconds.

It controls similarly to Ultraflow, where you're swiping to move the disc past obstacles and past checkpoints. It's a game that's easy to learn but hard to master until you understand the physics at play and determine strategies for dodging obstacles and changing the disc's direction on the fly.

22 Seconds is a free game with ads that regularly pop up. Fortunately, it's not the kind that forces you to sit through a 30-second video, but it's still somewhat annoying. This is a game that you'll want to compete against your friends with — your high scores are stored within Google Play. There's also the global high score which flashes up at the top of the screen. You'll need to surpass 1,000m to crack the global top 50, which would be a pretty much flawless run.

If you're looking for a free, casual game that only requires 22 seconds of commitment and focus at a time, this is it.

OK Golf

OK Golf is more than just okay — it's pretty great! Previously released for iOS back in February, the game has arrived on Android just in time for the start of golf season. While other golf games try to offer a reasonably realistic simulation of golf, OK Golf goes for a minimalist approach and I think it really pays off.

The game's poly graphics are beautiful, with each hole presented as a floating platform. Gameplay is simple: you swipe down from the ball to power up and aim your shot, with a power shot available by pulling it down all the way. The game features five 9-hole courses at launch, which are each styled after different parts of the world. You unlock new courses by playing through and collecting stars in Free Play mode, which also unlocks Championship mode and Timed mode. There's also a three-hole teaser for a unique Paris Rooftops course that, as you may have guessed, has you play across rooftops.

It's a paid game, so there's no ads or in-app purchases to deal with, so you can play at your own pace without distraction — like real golf! New courses are also coming soon which is even better news.
