LG G Watch and Samsung Gear Live get the teardown treatment
There are several steps for a new device to complete before it can be considered truly official. One of those steps is the royal iFixit teardown treatment. The LG G Watch and Samsung Gear Live are the latest devices to be tore apart by iFixit. We can now see what makes these smartwatches tick. Pun fully intended.
If you’re looking for gears and dials inside these watches you will be disappointed. The guts of the G Watch and Gear Live look like mini smartphones. They have a tiny battery pack, a processor, motherboard, and all the screws and doodads you’d expect. Of course, the purpose of these teardowns is not just to peek inside of the device. These are guides that can help you fix your G Watch or Gear Live should you have to make a repair.
iFixit scored the G Watch with a 9 out of 10 for repairability. They gave the Gear Live a 8 out of 10. They said both of these devices were relatively easy to take apart and put back together. If repairability is important to you these devices are great buys. We expect the more premium and intricate Moto 360 to be more difficult to repair.
