As seen at Google IO: It’s a Toxic Hellstew and We Like It – Win 1 of 5 in this T-Shirt Giveaway
At Google IO 2014, a handful of IO attendees were seen wearing the above (hey, I know that guy) t-shirt. The t-shirt reads “it’s a toxic hellstew… and we like it!” and was designed by Tyson Kemp of Process not Product. If part of the shirt’s phrase sounds familiar, it’s because Apple’s CEO Tim Took made the “toxic hellstew” quote famous this year at Apple’s WWDC in early June. It turns out, the t-shirt was a bit of a hit during Google IO. In fact, Android fans have been asking where they can get this shirt as they wish to wear it proud to spite Apple’s blatantly deceptive claims. We here at Phandroid have teamed up with t-shirt designer Tyson Kemp to give away 5 free t-shirts to lucky winners.
The whole toxic hellstew phrase didn’t originate from Tim Cook though. ZDNet stated that “Android fragmentation [is] turning devices into a toxic hellstew of vulnerabilities”. True, the vast majority of mobile malware developed today is targeted at Android. However, Tim failed to point out though that just because Android has the most malware being actively developed for it’s platform doesn’t mean that Google Play is rampant with malware. Out of Google’s 1 billion active users, less than 1% of Android users actually become infected with malicious code. Additionally, if you’re in the mobile malware business, are you going to develop for the platform that holds roughly 80% of the global user base or are you going to go after a platform that has about 13% of the worlds mobile users? Exactly.
